Recycled Timber Flooring

Recycled timber flooring is the process of salvaging timber flooring from existing homes and buildings, the process is unique and varies according to supplier.

Recycled timber is popular for many different reasons, most commonly expressed by clients, is that the old growth colour and characteristics cannot be matched by plantation timber. Another reason is when houses that already have old growth timber are renovated or extended, old growth or recycled timber will best match when sanded and polished. Using plantation timber where old growth timber is already present may be dissimilar.

Timber Floor Repairs and Restoration

Timber flooring damage can vary from white ant intrusion, water or moisture entry and dents or scratches caused from heavy objects with sharp corners.
Repairs to damaged timber boards are common and, in many cases, a damaged board can easily be removed and replaced fully coated.
Things to consider for floor board repairs:

  • Natural timber comes in several thicknesses and widths. The most common timber floor size is 80 x 13mm, however 130 x 14mm has become increasing more popular. Not all species are available in 80 x 13mm or 130 x 14mm due to milling restrictions and cost
  • Janka Rating is the scale that is used to categorise a hardness to a species. The softer the timber the lower the rating and the harder the timber the higher the rating.

These factors need to be considered and would be discussed in an initial consultation either over the phone or in person so that the best decision can be made.

What our clients are saying

Highly recommended

I would highly recommend Westech Flooring to anyone considering having timber flooring installed in their home. We found Danny and Simon very helpful and professional in our dealings with them. They were courteous and responsive to our needs and kept to their deadlines, which was greatly appreciated.

We found their work to be of the highest standard.

We were particularly pleased with final sealing and coating treatment done by Phil of Dempsey’s flooring and sanding service. Phil was very obliging and very professional in his manner. We were pleased with the final outcome and would highly recommend them to family and friends.

The floor looks fantastic

It is unusual for me to be recommending a quality tradesman, but I find it necessary after the service and professionalism that I recently received with Westech Timber Flooring.

After having a less than favourable result from previous companies that had laid jarrah floorboards in my home in years gone by, it was refreshing to have someone return my call immediately, come straight out to quote, and have someone who obviously has a sound knowledge of his industry assist me with my enquiries.

Their price was very competitive, and Danny and Simon completed the job with a minimum of fuss. Danny took the time to find out exactly what we wanted, and even made a few suggestions along the way.

The floor looks fantastic, and completely transforms the new room. I can thoroughly recommend the friendly guys at Westech Flooring for a job well done.

The work and service was flawless

I would like to personally recommend Danny Davila ( Westech flooring) for the works completed most recently and some three years ago.

In 2009 Westech flooring was engaged in a 40m2 direct stick Jarrah into an Art Deco house in Wembley. The work and service was flawless. In 2012, having completed a new build two story with staircase, Westech flooring was engaged to install 95m2 of 130 x 14 spotted gum, including the staircase. The house was sold for $1.6 million and a recurring comment from buyers of how beautiful the floor and stairs were.

Presently and renovation / extension in West Leederville Westech flooring completed the Jarrah install, skirting and bead.

I would never go anywhere else for timber flooring needs, not just based on the product, but also the service and the wonderful nature of Danny. It surpasses current day standards on how many businesses run. An absolute pleasure!!
